The Tangerpay kiosk uses smart auto-dimming features to extend the screen life of the tablet. The kiosk screen will dim automatically (but not darken completely) when it has been idle for 3 minutes or more. It reverts to full brightness as soon as someone touches it.
Store owners can customise the auto-dimming feature to suit their individual preferences and business needs. It is possible for store owners to change the brightness level for when screen is in use and also for when screen is idle.
Store Owners can optionally also schedule auto dimming of the screen to a lower brightness level during store closing hours.
The Screen Brightness is set on a scale of 0 - 255 where 255 is the brightest and 0 is the dimmest (but not turned off completely).
It is a matter of individual preference as to what level works best for your business and so we allow you to change it from factory default if you wish.
There are 2 settings for screen brightness control which are automatically enabled ex-factory:
This is the brightness level when the screen is in use and someone is interacting with it (touching it). Ex-factory, this is set to 255 which is the brightest. You can change this to a lower value (0-255) to extend screen life and to suit your business preference.
This is the brightness level that the screen will automatically dim down to when it has been sitting idle for 3 or more minutes. Ex-factory, this is set to 20 which is dim but still leaves it visible for customers. It will automatically change to MAX BRIGHTNESS as soon as someone touches the screen. You can change the MID BRIGHTNESS level to a lower value to further extend screen life if you wish. You can also set it to a higher level if you feel the screen is too dim when idle. Setting it to 255 will switch off auto dimming completely. Note that if you keep the screen operating at full brightness all the time. We strongly recommend that you enable After Hours dimming when your store is closed. Read the next section for details on this.
There are 3 optional controls provided to dim the screen during closing hours for your business. This allows you to extend the screen life by dimming the screen to lowest brightness overnight when your store is closed. These optional controls aren't enabled ex-factory as they require setting up of the FROM and TO hours when your store is closed.
If do not enable this control, your kiosk will still drop down to MID BRIGHTNESS level whenever the screen is idle, and it will do this during the day and at night. You can enable the MIN BRIGHTNESS controls to dim kiosk screen even further during closing hours if you wish or to only dim it at night and have it running on full brightness during the day.
The kiosk will automatically dim down to the MIN BRIGHTNESS level after it has been idle for 3 or more minutes. But it will only do this during the FROM and TO hours you configure below. The screen will still change to MAX BRIGHTNESS level as soon as someone touches it and it will dim down again to this level after it has been idle for 3 minutes. Ex-factory this is set to 0 which is the lowest brightness level without turning off the screen completely. You can change this to a higher brightness value f you wish, remembering that the brighter you set the screen the shorter its longevity.
This is the start time from when you want the kiosk screen to be dimmed to the lowest and will normally match the closing hour of your business or perhaps 30-45 minutes after that. Ex-factory both FROM and TO are set to 00:00 which means MIN BRIGHTNESS dimming is not enabled. To enable it, please set the FROM and TO time accordingly.
This is the end time after which you want to kiosk screen to resume its normal levels of brightness for day time operations. This will normally match the opening hour of your business or perhaps 5-15 minutes before that. Ex-factory both FROM and TO are set to 00:00 which means MIN BRIGHTNESS dimming is not enabled. Ex-factory this is set to 00:00. To enable it, please set the FROM and TO time accordingly.
